In June, Startup Grind Fremont heard from renowned speaker, blogger, and investor, Murray Newlands. Murray talked about the importance of entrepreneurs growing their influence. He noted that it takes time, money, and effort to be successfully influential. Time to use social media to write about your area of expertise. Money to hire experts to help you build your brand. Effort to attend events that help you make connections with other industry and media experts.

So, why is it important to grow your influence?

Murray explains that, bottom line, building up your influence helps to grow your business. If people are talking about you, then your name is out there in publications and on social media platforms, and others are reading about and inquiring about you and your product/service. It’s all about networking, building relationships, and ultimately, increasing your customer base.

But, it all starts with first knowing what you are good at, determining your niche, and then figuring out how can you win at it.

The next Startup Grind Fremont event will take place on Tuesday, August 29 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at EFI (Electronics for Imaging) located at 6700 Dumbarton Circle, Fremont, CA 94555.
